Show Me a Man Who Doesn't Like a Dog....
>> Friday, September 18, 2009
If you read my last post then you know that I remembered something my dad said when I was just a kid..."Show me a man who doesn't like a dog and I'll show you a man who is no good."
I thought about it a lot. My dad was very wise.
I guess because I'm a writer, that inspired me to look for more quotes about animals. Needless to say, I spent more than a few hours immersed in rich delightful quotations.
This one spoke to me:
"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole." ~ Roger Caras
I guess I might even change it to: "Animals are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole."
Do you have any quotes that speak to you about animals? Please share!
Also, my sister-in-law has a cute post on her blog and some wonderful photos of a cat fully engrossed in what it's doing. Hop over and take a look!

I think that saying about a man who doesn't like dogs... is so true! I'm thinking of men whom haven't liked our dog and funny thing, our dog didn't like them. All of those men are creepy!!!
Blessings this day!

Glad you enjoyed that post and thanks for adding link here. I had linked to you too. Hadn't even gotten a chance to tell ya. I knew I had that photo some where. Still working hard on organizing these pictures. I have more than I can count. It's been a tedious process; not there yet; but getting closer.

I have found it to be true... You can tell a lot about a person by how they interact with animals.
Lovely post,
interesting to read :)))
And so true my father was the same men ;)
Like your paw prints

I saw a youtube video called "Best Friends," about a little girl and her pug and throughout the video they've interspersed quotes. That Roger Caras quote was included. Some others are:
We can judge the heart of a man by how he treats animals -- Immanual Kant
Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened -- Anatole France
Animals are such agreeable friends; they ask no questions; they pass no criticisms -- George Eliot
The dog was created especially for children; he is the god of frolic -- Henry Ward Beecher
I love collecting quotes as well. :)
The only one I can think of is
DOG spelled backwards is GOD.
And we have a pillow that says
"My goal in life is to be the kind of person my dog thinks I am."
does that work?
There are so many good quotes. Here are three:
"I've met many thinkers and many cats, but the wisdom of cats is infinitely superior." ~ Hippolyte Taine
"I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul." ~ Jean Cocteau
"Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you later." ~ Mary Bly
I collect quotes about animals - especially ones about dogs. 3 rescue dogs (and 1 not) have made their way to our home over the past 4 years. When we got our 1st little guy I found a piece of scrapbook paper that said, "They say we rescued you, But it was really you that rescued us." It's my very favorite quote of all.
Animals are wise, and can always tell if people are animal lovers. My favorite quote is "Dogs have owners, cats have Staff." My sister has a shirt with this quote on it! :o)
When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction. Mark Twain
Dogs drool, cats rule. from the movie "Homeward Bound"
"The outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man" Winston Churchill.
A dog is man's (and woman's!) best friend.
If it hasn't been said before, this should have been: If a puppy or kitten's antics don't make you smile, there is something WRONG with you!
Sorry... I've got puppies on the brain lately:) Linda
