Surgery Update
>> Monday, August 30, 2010
This back surgery thing hasn't been so bad even though it was more extensive that we thought. I ended up with two rods, two plates. numerous screws, lost- count- at- 39 staples and who knows how many sutures. I feel pretty good. I've been able to enjoy the company of good friends who drop by so I'm not ever bored. The flowers in my family room make me feel like I'm on a tropical vacation...well almost. All and all, I couldn't ask for more
My sons and their families have been here to exercise Sammy almost everyday. My husband went back to work for the first day today and he was a great help. He even gives me my shots to thin my blood. Now who would have thought!
And, as you can see from the photo above, even when I'm sleeping my three guys

Welcome home Jan, so good you are ok and all went well.
Sandy kept us posted with updates. Thanks :)
Love the picture :>) you look so snug.
I'm guessing that from now on going through security at the airport will have a certain frisson! XX
Glad to hear you doing well and that you're being well taken care of.
So glad to see you are doing good! Bless your husband, and the three pups!

I sure hope you continue to heal well, and your family continues to take good care of you. Recliners rock when you have back problems, The Mate has had three back surgeries, and he loves having ours. And the Tempur-pedic bed (ours is a knock-off) does wonders as well. Take it easy, don't overdo it, and please, heal quickly!
Your support staff is FURRY nice!
Glad to see you are feeling reasonably well too!
What a wonderful family you have, to have taken such good care of you.
What a beautiful site seeing you surrounded by those pups of love.
You should be getting those stapples out soon, will you save them for souvineers?
You have gone through so much,,, what a trooper you are.
Sending healing thoughts and love

Jan, wow - you've been through a lot with the surgery. Take care of yourself during the recovery phase, because it's so vital for your progress moving forward. Don't push yourself too hard, but do as your doctor says and follow the physical therapy exercises or whatever your doctor prescribes. I am wishing you a thorough recovery. Take advantage of your downtime to really heal well.
All the best!
Cindy

Jan, I am glad to hear your surgery went well. I hope your recuperation is progressing and that you are not in a great deal of pain. Sounds like you have become the Bionic Woman with all your plates and screws and rods! Yes, airport security will be very special for you now. I went on an extended trip this summer with four flights, and my artificial knee merited some special attention as well. Your furry companions are good company. My mini weenie dogs are so empathetic that I hate to be sick around them. They pick up on my mood! I just finished Sara Gruen's book, Ape House, and cried my way through it. As a fellow animal lover, it may speak to you as well. I think of you often! Be well. Christine
Hope you feel better soon good luck I will keep you in my prayers
Jan, I'm so sorry I didn't know about your recent surgery. You've been through a lot. It's been a while since I've been over. I hope you're recovering well. :) xxx
