Spun Tale...Tail!

Sammy's about had it with spring and summer. He's tired of the heat. He's tired of the grass and...he's tired of itching! The poor little guy doesn't mean to leave hair all over the house but even after I brush out bushels of white and brown fluffy fur he scratches out bushels more. I'm thinking of turning my house into a spinning factory. Why I think we could make the most beautiful sweaters and afghans you've ever seen. The colors would be so neutral they would go with anything.
I could give Christmas presents that would leave people in awe. "Where'd you ever find this cashmere coat?" they would ask. "And who's the designer?" I'd smile and reply, "The designer is Sir Samson of Center Woods."
I could even donate things to my sister-in-law Sandy http://homelessbridge.blogspot.com/ who has a group that knits and crochets for the homeless. "Sandy," I would say, "I've had Sam's fur cleaned and sterilized at least fifty times. My spinner can offer you more scans of yarn than the store in your basement can hold."
Sandy would be happy. I'm not sure what she'd say but I would be willing to bet she'll leave a comment and let us know. And as for my husband Chuck...well, when I give him his pair of Samson-fur-socks he's going to be overwhelmed with joy. "I'll never have to worry about fur on my socks again," he will say. "I've got FUR FOR MY SOCKS! Jan, you are more talented and gifted than I ever knew," he will say to me.
I'll feel a little smug. "Just think," I'll whisper to
Chuck. "All the money I earn from my Samson- designed products will pay for all the steroids and antibiotics that Sam is going to take until well after the first frost. Chuck will be happy. I know he will.

Dang fine idea!!!! And if Sammy itches, check his diet. He may be reacting to grains. Sailor itches if he eats wheat, corn or soy. However, mosst likely is inhalant allergies which manifests itself in dog skin rather than the upper respiratory tract as in humans.
FABULOUS idea, this spinning thing. There is even a market out there for spinners of dog fur; the few people I know who do it charge way too much for most knitters to afford.
Sammy's itching seemed to start after he ate an intire bag of cat food!
LOL I thought about that this summer when we shaved Sadie. I could have stuffed a mattress! And yes, he would be happy. Hubbies like it when animals bring in money!
you wanna see hair, come over here

Poor Sammy! I hope hiis allergies clear up. I guess the cat food could have set it off!
I'm sure there is enough of Austin's fur to make a scarf or two. You could open a clothes shop with your menagerie!! x
Your comment from here to Bridge worked fine, and I clicked on it and am here fine. People DO spin animal fur to make fiber. I've not learned to spin and I understand it takes some doing to do it well enough to have good fiber. Guess first you card it, filter it, then spin it? Some folks dye it then too. It's a process. I've even heard of people reposing dryer lint like that.
Somewhere I read about a group that used animal fur to knit with at the zoo. You should call the zoo gift shop and ask about it.
If I had lot of loose furs, My mom would make a scarf outta it, for sure. But alas, I don't shed. Maybe when I gets a trimming???? Puppy kisses, Miss Mindy
Waving hello as you from Ignite to Write.....successfully chatting, next is your food blog.

I will be happy to donate some lovely soft red fur from Kelly to your spinning and knitting projects! I hope Sammy stops itching soon!
We understand! Suka has had a very tough Summer too, with all the heat and humidity. Seemed to be non-stop for a while! And the itching and scratching - ugh! And all the clumps of fur! I have often thought of how it would be to knit sweaters and scarves with the bags of fur from Suka.
