Rescue Puppy Reunion
>> Tuesday, August 11, 2009
I'm pretty sure this face is saying, "thank you!" Moses is one of the seven puppies that we rescued from under the deck of an abandoned house. As a pup, his name was Prince Charming.
I will explain that one in just a minute!
Remember I told you there was going to be a puppy reunion? Well, it happened last night. Seven gorgeous dogs, their mother, and their owners came together next door to the house where the rescue began.

Remember I told you there was going to be a puppy reunion? Well, it happened last night. Seven gorgeous dogs, their mother, and their owners came together next door to the house where the rescue began.
You can see them all in this photo. Count them! There's eight in all. In this day and age, it's truly a miracle to have rescued all these puppies and to have found them wonderful homes.
It was so special to see each dog so happy and healthy. Rae (shown on the far right) is my friend that I told you about. Without her, I don't know what would have happened. She's amazing. It took a village to take care of the needs of these puppies and their mother. There were so many puppies and they looked so much alike that we had to give them names. We couldn't remember who we'd fed and who we hadn't. With so many puppies, their mother just didn't have enough milk. The funniest thing (and the most difficult thing) was that with the exception of one pup, each puppy had a twin.
We named them accordingly. Sleeping Beauty got her name because she slept so much. Her twin was Prince Charming. Beaver got his name because he looked like...you guessed it, a beaver. His twin was Foxy Boxie. Then there were the Lee sisters. Peggy Lee got her name because she had a little mole on the side of her muzzle. Her twin was of course, Brenda. Finally there was Friday Night. He was black at the time, now he looks like a German Shepherd...like his mom.
Their new owners have given them different names. That doesn't matter a bit. What matters is the dedication, time, and love that went into getting these wonderful dogs where they are today. It was all about a good rescue and great friends.
The last two puppies I had, Peggy Lee and Foxy Boxie went home with Kim and Shawn, a wonderful young couple.
Now they are all grown-up and sitting in the group photo. Their forever names are Maggie and Morgan. I'm smiling...are you?

Yes, I am smiling! What a great story, and happy reunion. This is so heartwarming that you were able to keep in touch with all the new owners, and the rescue was a success!!
Thank you for the nice comment today. I am only a good writer when my emotions are high, as they were with PaPa!!
Oh such a wondeful story of the reunion.
I have been waiting to hear about it!
It is so amazing- yes it is!

I LOVE stories like this! Thank you for warming my heart.
Yes I am smiling from ear to ear. That is so sweet and I am so happy that they each have loving homes. It really makes me want to cry because I just don't know what I would do if my pups had to suffer out in the world without love and comfort. And that poor mama must have been really relieved to have help with that brood. Bless you for this cause you have taken on. My priest said that when we get to heaven the people we have touched will be waiting for us there...you may have people lined up but they will be behind the four legged variety that can't wait to kiss you and play with you once again.
Ahhh thanks for helping our furry friends,
Benny & Lily
P.S. If you click on the group photo to enlarge it, from left to right are:
Prince Charming, Sleeping Beauty, Peggy Lee, Friday Night, Mother dog, Brenda Lee, Foxy Boxy, and Beaver.
Rae kept the mother dog and Beaver. Sooner or later, if you live nearby and are a friend of mine, you'll probably have a rescue puppy or kitten. You may want to run and hide!
Hello, thank you for dropping by. It's really nice to meet you.

I'm smiling from ear to ear, mostly because I keep staring at my fur babies' baby pics. They were the cutest jumbo puppies, weren't they?! Without you, Rae, Jeff, and everyone else that rescued the pups and their mom, we wouldn't have our Maggie and Morgan. They are absolutely wonderful dogs, and I love getting to together with everyone every year!
Thanks again for giving them food, warmth, and love before we were able to give them their permanent home!
Kim (and Maggie and Morgan :))
This is so very AWESOME!!!! Thanks for the fostering that you do!!
It was our pleasure, Kim. It was made even better because now Morgan and Maggie have you and Shawn and baby to love them!
What a great ending!
This truly made my day. Thanks for inviting us to the reunion. The pups grew into gorgeous dogs, didn't they? I wonder if they all had the same father....
A puppy reunion where all pups are grown, healthy, and happy must have been a sight to see and experience.
Congratulations to all who were involved.
I am sure that God is smiling on you.
What a great story! A wonderful reunion. That is amazing in this day and age, like you said. I like stories with happy endings and this one has happiness flowing through it!
Happiness galore! I didn't know, until we took the pups to the vet for their shots, that a female dog could become pregnant by more than one father. The vet thinks there were at least three different fathers in this case.
Also, don't know if I told you or not, but when it came time to pay the vet bill for seven puppies and their mother, it was free. A client at my vet's office had established a fund in honor of her beloved dog. The story just can't get any better.
Yes, as 2cats said, "God was smiling on all of us."

I loved this post!!!
You and Rae should start a formal rescue group. I'd be willing to bet you could find lots of blog friends to help you!
That is a terrific happy ending story! Thank you for helping those doggies find furever homes.
Wags & wiggles,
Bijou
A happy ending!
So wonderful to see another happy rescue ending! Don't know if I'd mentioned to you that my sister does dog rescues, and we've fostered several of them until good places could be found. She and her friend have saved over 800 dogs/puppies during the past couple of years, with God's help.
These all turned into such beautiful dogs...I see shepherd, golden lab... Mmmm... But ALL loved!!!
